Troop 1 Hike on October 12: Mianus River Gorge

Instead of hiking at Turkey Mountain, we will be hiking in the Mianus River Gorge on 10/12/13. We will meet at KES at 12:45 PM so we can leave by 1:00 PM. Dress appropriately for the weather, wear boots, and bring water. Family and friends are welcome to join us. About the Mianus River Gorge: Located just outside of Bedford Village off of Long Ridge Road, the Mianus River Gorge, with over 1000 acres, will be celebrating it's 60th anniversary this year. Founded in 1953, it contains one of the last areas of old growth forest, the 400 year old Hemlocks that grow along the banks of the Mianus River.  This will be a spectacular event with the fall foliage in full swing, and hopefully good weather. For more details, visit the Mianus River Gorge web site . Contact Mr. Adamec with any questions.
