It's time once again for the Annual Canoe Trip, where our boys will enjoy two days on the Saco River on the New Hampshire-Maine border. We will be travelling to Doc's Cabin on Lake Lovewell in Fryeburgh, Maine, which is about a 6-hour drive from Katonah. The cabin was enjoyed by Doc and his family for more than 90 years, and now it is available for us to continue our annual summer tradition.
Scouts should pack carefully for a two-day trip on the river, bring a waterproof bag to stow your equipment. We will be using some of Doc's canoes as well as some rentals. Life jackets will be provided, but you may bring your approved flotation vests own if you prefer. Scouts should also bring a small amount of spending money for movies and snacks on Monday night.
Saturday, June 27 - Depart KES at 10:00am, arrive at Fryeburgh in the afternoon.
Sunday, June 28 - Launch canoes from Conway in the morning, paddle down the Saco River, pause for lunch, continue down the river, camp overnight.
Monday, June 29 - Continue down the river, paddling all the way back to Doc's cabin. Enjoy traditional turkey dinner back at the cabin, then head into town for a movie.
Tuesday, June 30 - Clean up cabin, drive home. Arrive in Katonah late afternoon.
We are in need of parents to drive up and enjoy the weekend with us. If you are available to drive and help provide adult supervision, please contact Scoutmaster Hank Tschorn at 232-5420. Thank you!!
